A passion for African art landed Phakama Sibanda into NFT trades, using his IT background as well as beginning to cultivate a blockchain knowledge base in Africa that he believes will help not only artists, but multitudes of Africans.
Born in Zimbabwe and currently based in Botswana, Phakama is a multidisciplinary artist and social entrepreneur with a dream to educate, empower and develop African communities through sustainable NFT projects. He founded NFTsAFRICA, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of DawuTech, a Data, Web and Design startup based in Botswana. It's mission is to build communities in the metaverse and plug-in to sustainable ecosystems for real-world experiences using emerging technologies with the goal of bridging the economic gap in Africa.
Phakama believes NFTs should be accessible to all and strive to build African artists and communities alike in a modern sort of ‘Ubuntu.’ The NFT enthusiast community working together for the betterment of the whole and eventual improvement of African livelihoods.
