In a this episode of Chad’s Climate Quest, host Chad Frischmann talked with Danijel Višević, founding partner of World Fund, Europe’s largest climate tech VC, about how investment strategies are shifting toward climate-positive solutions.
From Decarbonization to Sustainability - All Roads Lead to Regeneration
While there is much debate about the capitalistic economy and its favoritism of the wealthy, it may be time to embrace a capitalistic response for climate change, using it for good while improving guidance for VC firms and investor, and provide the tools to measure impact.
VC Firms like World Fund are proving that investing in climate tech is both financially smart and necessary for the planet’s survival.
“The world doesn’t just need to decarbonize—it needs to regenerate,” Danijel explains. “The financial sector has the power to drive this transformation by funding technologies that don’t just cut emissions but actively rebuild ecosystems.”
World Fund developed Climate Performance Potential (CPP) as a metric for evaluating investments. VC firms avoid greenwashing and ensure they’re funding solutions that create systemic change. “We don’t just want climate-friendly companies,” Danijel said. “We want companies that will redefine entire industries.”
The World Fund team is pushing for a regenerative economy, reaching higher than sustainability with their investments.
“If we only focus on reducing emissions, we’re slowing down in the wrong direction. We need solutions that reverse damage, restore ecosystems, and create abundance.”
According to Danijel, the most promising climate tech sectors include:
- Next-Gen Renewable Energy – Advancements in solar, wind, geothermal, and wave energy.
- Circular Economy Innovations – Companies creating closed-loop systems for materials like batteries, plastics, and textiles.
- Regenerative Agriculture – Technologies that restore soil health, increase biodiversity, and reduce emissions.
- Carbon Capture & Storage – Scalable solutions that actively remove CO2 from the atmosphere.
- Green Construction & Materials – Sustainable alternatives to steel, concrete, and traditional building materials.
